DIY Deer Hoist — A Helpful Guide on Building an Essential Tool for Hunting

What You'll Need:
- ratchet strap system
- a pulley
- strap rope/rachet
- a wrench
- three 3-inch lag screws
- 2x6 pressure-treated lumber
- a drill bit
- two 2 1/2-inch temporary screws
- a hand ratchet
- three 1 1/2-inch lag screws

Directions:
1. Loop the strap rope/ratchet over a branch about 8 feet high, ensuring that the hook section of the strap rope/rachet is available to place the pulley on it. Loop it a few times if there is excess material.
2. Secure the pressure-treated lumber to the bottom part of a tree by drilling two 2 1/2-inch temporary screws into the wooden board using a drill bit.

3. Once the wooden board is stabilized to the tree, drill pilot holes with the drill bit for easy insertion of the lag screws.
4. Use a hand ratchet to turn the lag screws through the pressure-treated board and onto the tree.
5. Attach the ratchet system to the pressure-treated board by screwing three 1 1/2-inch lag screws into the pre-created holes in the ratchet system.

6. Place the pulley onto the strap rope/ratchet hook, pull the ratchet system strap through the pulley, and your DIY deer hoist is all done.
Pro Tip: Ensure the pulley for your DIY deer hoist is wide enough to fit the strap attached to the ratchet strap system.
