1. Air out your rubber mats.

It seems like a no-brainer, but airing out your rubber mats can effectively rid them of their smell. Simply take them outside in a well-ventilated area and leave them there for several days.

Fresh air and sunlight will help break down the VOCs causing their odor; however, you want to ensure you don’t expose them to direct sunlight for lengthy periods, lest they fade or crack.

2. Use vinegar to remove the smell.

Vinegar is another effective deodorizer. Simply mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spritz the solution on both sides of your rubber mat. Then rinse it and leave it to air dry in a well-ventilated area.

3. Deodorize the mats with a neutral pH cleaner.
