Battling moss on concrete? Whether it's unsightly growth on your walkway or a slippery patch on the driveway, we've got you covered with proven methods on how to get rid of moss on concrete.

Moss is a velvety green plant that thrives in moist and shaded areas hidden from the sun. It is a non-vascular plant that has no roots and anchors itself to stones, trees, or ground using tiny threads.

As you know, moss can grow on concrete. This is because concrete has a porous, water-absorbant surface that makes it easier for moss to survive.

However, when left unaddressed, moss can weaken the concrete structure and pose a safety hazard as the surface will become slippery.

Unless it is a decorative feature in your garden, it is essential to kill moss to avoid concrete disintegration and the weakening of the structural integrity of your concrete surfaces.

But if you're wondering how to remove moss from concrete, here are a few easy methods.

How to Remove Moss from Concrete

1. Use baking soda.

Baking soda is usually a readily available household item in most homes because it's a versatile cleaning agent. Sprinkle some of it over the moss-covered surface and leave it for 24 hours. Once that time has passed, sweep away the dead moss.

2. Pour boiling water.

Using boiling water to remove moss on a concrete surface is another cost-effective method. Simply boil the amount of water you'll need and pour it over the affected area, then use a stiff brush or broom to scrub the moss away. Ensure you carry your boiling water carefully to avoid spilling any on yourself.

3. Use a bleach solution.

Like baking soda, bleach is another versatile cleaning agent. All you need to do is mix one part bleach and one part water in a spray bottle. Spritz the solution over the affected area and leave it to soak for about 30 seconds. Then, use a stiff brush or hose to remove the moss.

Tip: Be careful you don't spray other plants you might want to keep so you don't accidentally kill them.

4. Consider a vinegar solution.

Like the bleach solution above, you can simply mix one part white vinegar and one part water in a bucket and carefully pour it over the affected area. Leave it to soak for about ten minutes, then scrape the moss away with a stiff brush.

Alternatively, instead of mixing vinegar with water, you can follow these steps using vinegar alone.

5. Try a pressure washer.

If you have one stashed in your garage, use a pressure washer to remove moss from your concrete surfaces. Additionally, if you choose any of the methods listed above, you can use your power sprayer to clean the area afterward.
