Supplies:

  • Iron horseshoes
  • Liquid gilding paint
  • Craft paint
  • Foam brush
  • Flat paint brush
  • Washi tape

Instructions:

1. Start by applying liquid gilding paint to the front and edges of a new horseshoe using a disposable foam brush. Allow the paint to dry for approximately one hour to ensure a smooth finish without the need for cleaning up oil-based paint.

2. Wrap a small piece of washi tape around one end of the horseshoe, about an inch from the tip. Repeat this step on the opposite end and at the center of the horseshoe to create a symmetrical design.

3. Use a flat paintbrush to paint the center and both ends of the horseshoe with white craft paint, starting from the edges of the tape to prevent seepage. After the base coat dries, apply 2-3 layers of your chosen color, allowing each layer to dry completely.

4. Once the paint is dry, carefully remove the washi tape to reveal clean lines. Allow the horseshoe to dry fully.

With a bit of creativity and simple materials, transforming a plain horseshoe into a stunning piece of decor is both easy and rewarding. From applying gilded paint to adding colorful stripes with washi tape, these steps breathe new life into traditional symbols of luck.
